Bowen-Therapie: Strengthen the body's self-regulation with gentle stimuli
Bowen therapy focuses on the connective tissue and its little-researched bridging function between body and mind. The fundamental concept is that, in certain conditions, the body needs not just targeted repair but also a stimulus or impulse to activate its self-regulation.
The "Bowen Moves"
The treatment consists of a series of rolling movements with the fingers—known as "Bowen Moves." These are applied to specific points on the muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. Recent research shows that connective tissue (fascia) plays a significant role in pain processing, remains adaptable and changeable, and responds well to slow, gentle impulses.
Relaxation for the Body and the Autonomic Nervous System
Between the moves, the patient lies still under a blanket for one to two minutes. During this time, the body can deeply relax and absorb the effects of the treatment. These resting phases allow the body to regenerate and reconnect with its original, healthy state. The so-called "Bowen Moves" not only promote relaxation but also help reduce tension and stimulate the entire body, particularly the autonomic nervous system.
After the treatment, a sense of physical and emotional lightness may set in, and the body often feels more supple and energized.
